Swordsman

The backbone of any good army is the swordsmen. They are slow moving but can both shred their opponents as well as defend against most other forms of attack. Swordsmen also vary greatly in armament as well as weapons. From scantily clad scimitar wielding Draconians to Broadsword carrying, full-plated Dwarves the range of gear is broad.

However, the sword requires lengthy training to master. An unskilled swordsman is just as dangerous to their comrades and themselves as they are to their enemies. Many a green swordsman has sported an ugly scar from their own mishandling of this deadly weapon.

This unit is favored for its ability to both defend and attack. There are also many different unit formations offering a versatility that isn't commonly found among other infantry types. Like any other unit, flanking can be a problem, but swordsmen are quicker to adapt to new dangers.
