Pikeman

Pikemen are the bane of Calvary and other mounted units. With their long pikes they can decimate a charging enemy and walk away nearly unscathed. Their phalanx formation is almost impossible to overcome. Everything from Armored Calvary to Armored Elephants fall before a well-disciplined Phalanx.

When properly armored there is very little that can go head on with these soldiers. They are trained to stand firm in the face of enemies that outweigh and outsize them. Their courage is legendary and their ferocity on the battlefield is respected.

Like other polearm units they are vulnerable to flanking. They do however have a formation that guards them from Archers but leaves them vulnerable to other forms of attack. Aside from that specific formation they are somewhat protected from arrows due to their heavy shields.
