Crafters

Crafting is the creators choice. Perhaps when the word Crafter is mentioned your mind goes straight to those classes in school that were set aside for the unathletic. But crafting is an art (do you see what I did there?) that touches the lives of everyone. I mean who do you think made jewelry, instruments, furniture, lamps, glasses and so on? People who like to craft of course. Duh.

From simple crafts to complex ones, crafting is not always just an idle hobby. The involvement and detailed knowledge required to build a grand piano properly is nothing to shake a stick at. Nor is the experience required to produce delicate glass figurines anything short of arduous. And just like all of the other trades in Epimetheus, there are definitely specialized professions that maximize on the investments of a serious tradesman.

Potters work with clay and sand, crafting many of the necessities of life. From bricks to glass beads this crafting specialization's work can be seen all around. They produce tiles for flooring, lenses for magnification, molds for casting, containers for storage and so much more. One of the earliest trades, potters have become a fundamental part of any community.

Woodworkers are truly a wholly different breed of crafter, yet just as rooted into the machinations of civilized life. They can tell you which wood is best suited for outdoor furniture, which for support beams and which wood makes for the most beautiful tabletops. They chop, saw, carve, sand, glue and stain wood into some of the most common objects in history.

Artisans are often considered the finest crafters in the lands. They fashion art using paints, molds, precious stones, rare metals, alloys and a combination of other physical materials. The most affluent societies are lost without the delicate embellishments that this profession provides. What King is taken serious without a crown? What Lord or Lady does not wear their wealth in the form of extravagant jewelry? What high society would be complete without the refined sounds of a complete orchestra?
